Years ago, a few Marathi-speaking families came to Montréal with nothing but dreams in their eyes, memories of Maharashtra in their hearts, and a deep desire to stay connected to their roots.
They missed the sound of aartis, the scent of ukadiche modak, and the joy of celebrating Ganpati Bappa with friends and neighbors.
But instead of longing… they created.
They lit the first diya. They sang the first abhang. They draped the first nauvari.
And just like that — Montreal Marathi Mandal was born.

Today, that spark has become a flame.
We are now a thriving community of families, students, children, artists, and elders — all united by our love for Marathi language, culture, and tradition.
From Ganesh Utsav’s grandeur to Diwali’s light, from summer picnics under open skies to drama, dance, and dhol-tasha, our journey is built on emotion, belonging, and celebration.
